What is the true self?

The false self is not bad or wrong. It is a useful and necessary tool for navigating the world. However, it is not who we really are. It is not our essence. It is not our truth. Asana is the most popular and visible limb of yoga in the West. It is a powerful way of strengthening and balancing our body, mind, and energy. It also prepares us for pranayama and meditation, which are essential for accessing the true self. Pranayama is the regulation of our life force or vital energy through breathing techniques. It helps us calm and clear our mind and awaken our subtle energy channels. Meditation is the practice of observing our thoughts and feelings without judgment or attachment. What are the benefits of connecting with the true self?

Love: When we connect with our true self, we open our hearts to love ourselves and others unconditionally. We realize that we are all connected and that we are all expressions of the same source. We cultivate compassion, kindness, and empathy for ourselves and others.
Peace: When we connect with our true self, we experience a state of harmony and balance within ourselves and with the world. We transcend the duality of good and bad, right and wrong, pleasure and pain. We accept what is and flow with life.
Connecting with our true self is not a one-time event or a final destination. It is an ongoing process and a lifelong journey. It requires patience, perseverance, and practice. It also requires courage, honesty, and openness. It is not always easy or comfortable, but it is always rewarding and worthwhile.
